Why Choose the Ham & Cheese Croissant?

The ham and cheese croissant is a favourite for Singaporeans who want value, flavour, and just a hint of luxury.

It works for brunch, lunch, or a simple snack, with a French touch ideal for our tropical city.

Délifrance’s suggested emmental cream cheese blend, inspired by Parisian classics, makes the filling rich, creamy, and savoury within every croissant.

The Ham & Cheese Croissant Recipe with Emmental Cheese Cream

Ingredients (serves 4):

For the croissants:

  • 4 stale Délifrance Butter Croissants (from the day before)
  • 4 slices cooked ham (or halal/vegetarian substitute)
  • Emmental cheese cream (see below), 160g total
  • Thick cream, to taste

For the Emmental Cheese Cream:

  • 50g egg (about 1 large egg)
  • 50g thick cream
  • 60g grated Emmental cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation (15 minutes):

  1. Prepare the emmental cheese cream:
In a bowl, mix the egg, thick cream, grated Emmental cheese, salt, and pepper.
  2. Slice the croissants:
Cut each croissant along its length without slicing all the way through, keeping the halves attached.
  3. Fill and assemble:
Spread some emmental cheese cream into each croissant, add a slice of cooked ham, and close gently.
  4. Top and finish:
Spread a little thick cream on each closed croissant and add a sprinkle of grated Emmental cheese.
  5. Bake:
Place the croissants on a baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 14 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the cheese has melted.

Serve your ham and cheese croissant hot, ideally with a fresh green salad.

Chef’s Tips: Croissant Variations for Home Chefs

  • Use sliced tomatoes or sautéed mushrooms instead of ham for a vegetarian choice, and add chives for extra flavour.

  • Include a hint of chilli padi or rocket leaves for a local Singapore flavour.

  • For weekends, try smoked salmon or roast chicken for a more indulgent version.

  • Create a richer filling with a blend of Emmental and cheddar.

  • For something different, add a thin layer of kaya alongside the savoury filling.

Try something new with each batch and share your favourite version with friends and family.

More than 2,000 Délifrance croissants are baked by Singapore home chefs every month. Will you be next?

Croissant Storage & Value Tips

Store leftover croissants in an airtight container to keep the texture crisp for this recipe.

Experiment with different fillings such as tomatoes, mushrooms, or chilli for more variety.

By keeping a pack of Délifrance croissants in your freezer, you always have the foundation for a café-style snack at home.
